Andrews of Arcadia Uptown at Farlows

Andrews of Arcadia Uptown at Farlows

With Arctic winds whipping in from the North East and a low comes into the South, dealers gathered eagerly outside Kempton Park for the first of today’s races, that being the dealers in search of antiques, vintage and collectables at the first Sunbury Antiques Market of March. With the odds on favorite ‘Andrews of Arcadia’ getting there at first light to plunder ‘Vintage Fishing Tackle for the Soul’, I have decided to head East to the City to visit a new Gin Distillery.

A couple of early morning calls from my Sunbury companions confirmed that there will be fewer people today lining up for cups of tea as they have decided give the market a miss, even though the sun is casting its spring rays across South West London. Still, there will be bargains to be had and treasures to be found.

Our Friend at the thetuesdayswim is heading to angle on the Lea Bridge Fishery as the coarse fishing season draws to a close and many a man will be braving the conditions to cast a float or ledger in search of a prize fish. I imagine a few will take a radio with them in order to listen to the start of the Cheltenham Gold Cup Week. A fair few miles to the West the turf inspectors will be out checking the going for today’s Stan James Champion Hurdle Challenge Trophy with Hurricane Fly and Zarkandar set to cause a storm. With the going predicted to be soft Hurricane Fly is today’s favorite. Mind you could Cinders And Ashes come bowling down the track.

Yesterday I dropped into Farlows Of Pall Mall, that most majestic tackle shop in the heart of London, there on the counter was the calling card of Mr Andrews, a letterpress printed brown paper bag heralding his arrival on the 16th of April where he shall be stalling out at No.9 Pall Mall selling Vintage Fishing Tackle For The Soul. See http://www.andrewsofarcadiascrapbook.blogspot.com and http://www.farlows.co.uk for further details.

Well it is now time to saddle up and head off to discuss the virtues of distilling at the Cold Distillery with Mr Jamie Baxter the former master distiller of Chase Vodka. I suggest like Mr Andrews a mug of Trawlerman style tea and a nip of Navy Strength Gin, so wrap up warm if you are out today.

See http://www.thetuesdayswim.wordpress.com for the Lea Bridge Fishery and http://www.sunburyantiques.com for dates of the next antiques vintage and collectables market.
