http://www.barder-rod.co.uk/ – Edward Barder is seen as one of the top rod builders in the country. Having worked for Hardy’s in Pall Mall following his passion for angling he now crafts and builds both fly and coarse rods from his Mill were the Lambourn and Kennet meet.
http://www.chrisclemes.co.uk – Chris Clemes makes a range of fly rods and reels. Having worked for Orvis he now heads up a group of artisan rod builders making some of the finest fly rods and reels. I will be testing his Harmony range over the next week or so.
http://www.ajdsplitcanerods.com – Andrew Davis makes a range of coarse and fly rods for the traditional angler, he also restores to better than new condition. I hope to interview Andrew over the next few weeks.
Traditional Silk Fly Lines Makers:
http://www.cadnosilklines.com – Cadno Silk Fly Lines are made in the Usk Valley in the heart of Monmouthshire these handmade silk fly lines to order in various colours, weights and tapers. Having recently tested one of these lines when trying out a Chris Clemes fly rod I can personally recommend them. Supple and accurate to cast, you will not need to cast out more than 25 yards. I rather liked the coffee coloured line and yes it was coloured with coffee! A DT line will cost you £135 and a WF £140, comes coiled in a box with the addition of a tub of Mucilin fly line dressing. The ideal partner to your split cane rod and Lightweight Hardy Reel.

Hi ….do you know of a split cane rod maker from Falmouth, Cornwall called G. Willey ? The label on his rods read – G.Willey 5 Beacon Drive. Rod Specialist. Tel Falmouth 1527. I have not been able to find info on him on internet yet but wish to have the rods valued. I live in cornwall. many thanks Allan Drake
this is to correct info I posted above. the label inscription should read % Beacon Terrace – not Drive !!! Thankyou…Allan Drake
