A quick visit to the river in the late afternoon sun resulted in two finds. One being a gill plate of a carp the other a lure that rattled, it was well-worn by time and tides.

The gill plate came from a good sized carp, found on the slipway at Small Profit Dock a location near Barnes where many things get washed up including a number of lures. Over several weeks I can now say I’ve found one on each visit, worn, battered and lost but still worth picking up and casting a thought to the story it could tell.
