The Environment Agency posted flood warnings across the UK as heavy rains continued to fall, with one of the wettest summers on record there was still no let up in the rain. As the surface water and run offs from the land into tributaries of the Thames the Environment Agency posted a warning for the tidal Thames between Putney and Teddington Weir. http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk
By late afternoon yesterday the tide headed in and it proved to be a really high tide measuring 5.7m on the posts by The Bulls Head . After a busy day I headed to the White Hart pub on the banks of the Thames situated on The Terrace in Barnes for a glass of Aspall Cider and to watch the remaining tennis match. http://www.whitehartbarnes.co.uk
As the sun managed to show itself during the early evening people sat on the benches by the river but quickly realised the incoming tide was going to breach the bank. what was amusing to watch was how in order to take in the last of the day’s sun at all cost they were willing to let the water wash around their feet. Many people moved but a few hardy souls keep their positions to our amusement.
